Pocatello Marathon

2

Today was the big race! Jane ran the 5K and took 1st in her age group! Way to go Jane!!!!! She finished the race in 27 minutes. Scott ran the 1/2 marathon and finished with a time of 1:55 and had a great time coming in 7th in his age group. Pocatello does a great job at putting on a race. After the race there is water, fruit, sports drinks, chocolate milk, ice cream, bread and a potato bar!!! All free for the runners. They also had little games and things for the kids to do like face painting and clowns with balloons. We stayed to see the award ceremony and see Jane get her trophy!!! We are grateful for Grandma & Grandpa Miles and having them take up their time durring this holiday weekend to watch us and our kids. THANKS!!! We also miss our running partners who couldn't make it becuase they are training in Ethiopia!!!!! Love ya M & M!

1st Day of School

1

Today is the 1st day of school. It is crazy to me to have school start before Labor Day! What a joke! Our kids will not be going to school this Friday becuase we will be heading out of town for a long weekend. Anywho! Miles (7 yo) started 2nd grade, Lilly (6 yo) started 1st grade, and Savannah (4 yo) will be in her second year of preschool. Where did the summer go?

As you know from last weeks running post I have been running just a little bit. I found a great new website (And I thought I had seen them all). http://www.mapmyrun.com It's awesome! It uses Google Map and you can add your run/bike/walk route and then add mile markers, elevation changes, and it gives you options to show bathrooms/water break spots. Pretty cool tool for those of you that may want to take a run or ride your bike to work or plan a hike.

Enjoy!

Birthday Girl

Jane turned 30 today!!!
I tired to make it a nice day. It was tough when I am in meetings all day long but I snuck home a few times to feed the kids lunch, clean the house and make dinner. We also made a fun dessert for her birthday. Jane loves Almond Joy candy bars. We made her an Almond Joy Pie. We made the recipe up but it is fabulous!!!

Hope you had a great day!!! I love you!

Running is all mental....

I'm either crazy or insane!

Two weeks from today I will be running the Pocatello 1/2 Marathon. I have been following an abbreviated 5 week training schedule that has me running 25+ miles a week. 3-4 miles on most days and longer runs (6-8 miles) on Wednesdays and last Saturday was 10 miles and today was 12 miles. Jane and the kids surprised me (and made the run totally worth all the effort) by waking up and looking for me to finish. They also held out a finish line tape and cheered me on to the finish. Next Saturday is a breeze with a nice 8-9 mile run and then it's just a recovery week getting ready for the race.

Happy Birthday!!!

Today was Savannah and Briggs birthday! It's hard to believe that Briggs was born 1 year ago. Where did the time go. It's fun to see the kids grow up but it's a little sad too.

August 6th will always be a blue and pink day.

Sorry, I've got to run......

1

We have run the Pocatello 5K on labor day for the past couple of years. It's a great race and a fun way to spend one of the last weekends of the summer. Well for the last few months I have really been thinking of running a little further this year.
The last two weeks I have started training harder, running 16-20 miles a week.
So today I registered us to race.
Jane will do the 5K which starts at 9:30.
Scott will do the 1/2 Marathon which starts at 8:30.

If all goes well, Jane will finish around 10:00 and Scott will be behind her and finish at about 10:30.
It should be great. Other than the fact that running for 2 hours is a long stinking time.
Ahhh but think of all the yummy ice cream I could eat afterwords.

Mercantile Update

So the door is on, the walls are sheetrocked, the loft floor is framed, the stairs are in, the mercantile sign is ordered. FYI the front door was made from the old front door my parents just replaced in their home(the home I grew up in). The door knob is the same door knob that was on my parents door.

Usually durring the day the kids are in and out every 10 minutes. Once the loft and stairs were complete we couldnt get them to come out of the playhouse. They love it.

Idaho Raspberries

Jane and the kids went to Idaho for a few days this week. The purpose of the trip was Jane picking her Aunts raspberries. Raspberry jam is the best!

Of course you can see by the following pictures the kids had a ball at Grandma & Grandpa's house! Scott totally missed out and didn't even enjoy the quiet house due to church stuff every night!

Grandpa took the kids on the motorcycles.....even though Miles looks ticked off he had a great time!

Grandpa made them a rope swing!!!

Savannah, Lilly and Grandma were dancing in the kitchen.

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for making it such a fun week!!
And thanks to Aunt Debbie for the raspberries!!
